“I wanted Red Herring to feel timeless, energized, and bathed in a California attitude,” the designer shares. “Downtown Los Angeles is so rich with history, and I tend to pull from the details I see all around me. I played with the splendor of color, Art Deco geometry, soft curves, and splashes of flora and fauna whimsy, such as the mural that stands tall in the restaurant's dining room.”
“When we first started the project, Alexis had gone to Miami for the first time, so I started researching the architecture and the colors [of Miami],” Zajack tells AD PRO. Red Herring’s interiors capture an urban, tropical feel, “with a little bit of a nod to Miami and old Los Angeles,” says the designer.
